AI Workflows Without GPT, Gemini or Grok Lock-In.

DON'T BUILD THE BUSINESS AROUND ONE MODEL.

Today's best model may not be tomorrow's best fit. A well-designed workflow keeps business logic, approved source documents, customer interfaces and audit records separate from the model-specific API that generates or classifies text.

THE RIGHT
FOUNDATION.

OpenAI, Google and xAI can be considered as possible providers where supported; none should be baked into the business workflow so deeply that a product switch requires starting over. 'Model agnostic' means deliberately limiting dependencies, not that every capability is instantly interchangeable.

DESIGN FOR
THE LONG RUN.

01 / 03

Keep model access behind a boundary

Create a provider adapter that accepts a documented request contract and returns validated structured results. Business rules, authorization and final actions remain in code owned by the client. Provider-specific tools, multimodal features and safety characteristics may require separate implementation.

02 / 03

Preserve prompts, knowledge and decision rules

Version reusable prompts and evaluation examples in an authorized repository, excluding confidential data. Store business source documents and records in formats that can be exported. Use stable workflow definitions so replacing a model does not erase business knowledge.

03 / 03

Measure before switching

For every proposed model change, rerun realistic test cases, track refusal or hallucination behavior, latency, cost and privacy terms. Human approval remains in place for consequential actions. A model swap is a release that needs QA, not a simple dropdown promise.

ACCOUNTABLE
STEPS.

  1. 01

Define the workflow independent of any model vendor

  2. 02

Design an adapter contract and store settings outside the interface

  3. 03

Test at least one primary and one realistic fallback candidate

  4. 04

Write a documented evaluation and provider-switch procedure

GOOD
QUESTIONS.

Can we swap any model in one click?

Not reliably. Models differ in input formats, tool calls, context limits, licensing and behavior. We aim to isolate differences and make switching possible with controlled testing.

Can the site work if a model vendor has an outage?

Critical customer tasks can be designed to fail safely or queue for human review. A backup provider may be configured if supported, but continuity cannot be guaranteed.

Does model-independent mean avoiding all third parties?

No. GitHub, Cloudflare, domains, transactional email, payments and AI inference may still rely on providers. Portability and transparent dependencies are the goal.
